AWB (Air Waybill)

What is AWB?

The air-freight equivalent of a bill of lading. Unlike an ocean B/L it is not a document of title, so goods are released to the named consignee without an original document — faster, but it removes the payment leverage a B/L gives the seller. Standard for samples and launch stock, and prohibitively expensive at volume.
