CBM (cubic metre)

What is CBM?

The volume measure ocean freight is priced on, calculated from carton dimensions rather than weight. Cosmetics are light and bulky, so shipments are almost always volume-charged. Shaving a centimetre off the unit carton, or switching from a jar to a tube, can cut freight per unit more than any negotiation on the product price.
