California Proposition 65

What is California Proposition 65?

A Californian law requiring a warning when a product can expose consumers to listed substances above safe-harbour levels. It applies on top of federal US rules and is enforced largely through private lawsuits, which makes it a real commercial risk for imported colour cosmetics and any product with trace heavy metals. Ask for heavy-metal test data on pigmented products destined for the US.
