What is MoCRA?

The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022, the biggest overhaul of US cosmetics law in more than eighty years. It requires facility registration, product listing, serious adverse event reporting, safety substantiation and records, and gives the FDA mandatory recall authority.

Why does MoCRA matter when sourcing Korean cosmetics?

Initial registration and listing were due by 1 July 2024. Facility registrations must then be renewed every two years, and product listings updated annually. A Korean manufacturer shipping to the US must confirm its US partner has registered the facility and listed the product — the obligation does not disappear because you sell through an importer.
