What is NMPA filing / registration?
China's market-entry route via the National Medical Products Administration. General cosmetics are filed, which is comparatively fast; special cosmetics — sunscreen, hair dye, perming and spot-whitening products — require full registration with a longer review.
Why does NMPA filing / registration matter when sourcing Korean cosmetics?
Both routes need a Chinese domestic responsible person and a full product safety assessment report; the simplified assessment route ended on 1 May 2025. Efficacy claims must also be substantiated and the evidence summary published, which is a heavier evidence burden than most other markets impose.
